Joint statement by Turkey President Erdogan and Turkmenistan President Berdimuhammedov

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov issued a joint statement. The following information was conveyed in the statement made by the Presidency of Communications:

“The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, paid an official visit to Turkmenistan on November 27, 2021, upon the invitation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov.

During the talks, which took place in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, a fruitful exchange of views was made on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and important international issues of common interest.

The Heads of State noted with satisfaction the high level of bilateral relations, which have a strategic character and are based on the principles of unshakable friendship, mutual respect and trust.

The Heads of State declared that they intend to continue to develop and strengthen the strategic cooperation in all fields, based on the historical and cultural partnership of the brotherly peoples of the two states. They stated that they agreed that the effective advancement of bilateral cooperation from now on will serve to strengthen global peace, stability and economic development of the two countries.

The Heads of State gladly emphasized that there are similar perspectives on the main issues of international politics, and confirmed that they aim to further promote mutually beneficial cooperation on the global platform.

The Heads of State emphasized the benefit of coordination in their efforts within the international and regional organizations of which the Republic of Turkey and Turkmenistan are members. The Heads of State pointed out the importance of the role of the United Nations and its affiliates in solving global issues, ensuring sustainable development, and strengthening global security and stability.

In this context, the Heads of State expressed their satisfaction with the success of the 8th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States held in Istanbul on 12 November 2021, in which Turkmenistan participated as an Observer, and agreed to further develop their multilateral cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States.

The Heads of State declared that they believe that the fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Turkey and Turkmenistan serves the long-term interests of the peoples of the two countries as well as the achievement of global and regional peace, stability and security.

The Heads of State emphasized the importance of expanding trade-economic cooperation based on mutual interests between the Republic of Turkey and Turkmenistan.

In this context, the Heads of State reaffirmed the importance of further increasing the bilateral trade volume through the trade of high value-added products.

The Heads of State stated that the functionality of the Intergovernmental Turkish-Turkmen Commission on Economic Cooperation, which is a coordination mechanism for the development of bilateral relations primarily in the fields of trade-economic and transport-communication, should be further strengthened.

The Heads of State emphasized the importance of creating favorable economic, financial and legal conditions for entrepreneurs, increasing the opportunities to present their products and services to the world markets, and organizing Business Forums that will strengthen the relations between the business circles of the two countries.

In this context, the Heads of State also emphasized that mutual investments constitute one of the basic elements of economic cooperation and declared that they are ready to mutually support, protect and encourage investments on the basis of mutual benefit from now on.

The Heads of State reaffirmed that deepening effective cooperation in transport and transit is of prime importance for increasing international trade between countries and regions. In this context, Heads of State also emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in the field of civil aviation.

The Heads of State stated that they will continue to support important projects that serve the interests of the two countries in transportation, especially the “Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey” transportation corridor project, as well as projects within the framework of the East-West International Central Corridor transportation route with the Caspian crossing. have declared.

In order to increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of the international transport routes passing through the borders of the two countries, the Heads of State once again reaffirmed their readiness to continue the regular cooperation based on mutual interests for the harmonization of the fees for the transit transport of tradable goods and the provision of favorable conditions, 15 November 2017 They emphasized the importance of the actual implementation of the Agreement on Transit and Transport Cooperation (Lapis Lazuli Route Corridor), dated

The Heads of State emphasized the importance of developing mutual action and cooperation between institutions in the fields of prevention and treatment of communicable diseases, training of health workers, production and supply of vaccines, drugs and other medical supplies.

The Heads of State stated the necessity of developing and expanding the legal infrastructure of bilateral cooperation. In this context, the Heads of State emphasized the importance of bilateral intergovernmental and intersectoral documents signed within the scope of the visit. The said documents will serve to further strengthen the relations between the Republic of Turkey and Turkmenistan.

President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov for the hospitality, warm and friendly reception shown to the Turkish delegation and invited the President of Turkmenistan to visit the Republic of Turkey at an appropriate date.
